Friday, February 29, 2008 at 07:17AM Twas a rainy evening in Los Angeles when we scurried down to The Smell to catch Nels Cline( Wilco and formerly the Geraldine Fibbers) and Carla Bozulich (also The Geraldine Fibbers and Evangelista), collectively known as Scarnella, play a sweet set of avant garde sonic loveliness. haven't heard her name in a while... I used to see her band Ethyl Meatplow all the time. One of the best bands I ever saw live.
I remember seeing The Geraldine Fibbers , nostrils full of beer, face down in flannel. Loved Lolapalooza.
The Smell is one of the most aptly named venues ever. And getting there is a trip. Walk past the sketchy-ass club. Go down the dark alley. When it smells like pee, turn right.
