AnalogSuicide Loves You: Tori Amos & Martian Engineering!!!

How close is Cornwall to Cardiff? I mere skip & a hop, I know.

Maf & I are off to the UK next week for his dad's 80th birthday bash - and of course to film some of the sweetest, gear-up-to-there studios in the world...
This brings to mind this utterly bad-ass studio, Martian Engineering in Cornwall. Known as the birthplace of Tori Amos' godlike sonic creations from 1997 onward, this studio boasts a dizzying, delicious array of equipment - just their taste in microphones makes me want to curl up with a big glass of Bordeaux & mumble lullabies till I pass out...

Right - all that talk of wine has made me thirsty, so I've just grabbed a glassful ( cheap & cheerful Chilean red) & now we can check out Martian's backline inventory...2 harpsichords? A Hammond B3? Vox Jaguar? Not to mention the pedals, the amps... I wonder if their CS-80 and the Wurlitzer once owned by Country Joe & The Fish sleeps here as well? Nice. I need a refill.

And then there's this, the Piano Room.....Gorgeous. I'll take that refill now, this time with a nice big bar of dark chocolate to accompany that Bösendorfer Grand...:

Whew.....hands up - Who thinks Maf & I should knock on Martian's door for a little AnalogSuicide.com tour? I noticed that their Moogerfooger family is missing the Freq Box...Golly! They could borrow mine!

Now it's time for a few Tori movies - here's the wonderful EPK for the first album to emerge from Martian Engineering, Tori Amos' "From The Choirgirl Hotel"( YouTube by fuzzywind - see their channel for Part 2 ). Love it now!

More from the Martian? Yes. Nice narly bass on this tune, " Zero Point". Gear guesses anyone?
