Gorgeous Moog Taurus 3 Bass Pedals - Listening Tests & NAMM 2010 ("for those who care deeply about bass..")
Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 09:56AM As we are seated in the departure lounge waiting for our UK flight, many friends are, as we speak, on their way to the luscious NAMM 2010 festivities this year. Among those attending are our lovely friends at Moog Music, at booth 6100. Here is a sweet video of the new Taurus 3's listening tests - have a peek!

We will not be attending NAMM this year, but I highly recommend checking out Synthtopia, SonicState.com and Matrixsynth for all the fabulous updates. And AnalogSuicide, of course!
Anyway, this will officially be our last American post as Maf & I have 2 hours remaining until we are Heathrow-bound, and will be living in Wales. Needless to say, I'm incredibly excited about the big beautiful door we're about to open....

Just ordered my set of pedals! Only bummer is the lead time...6 months.
Favorite moments:
* Asia, "Wildest Dreams" - last chorus at the key change, before the drum solo. Not sure that's a Taurus but the first time I listened to this with decent headphones I about came up off my chair.
* Genesis, "The Musical Box" - toward the end, before the line "I've been waiting here for so long." It's a guitar-and-vocal bit and when the Hammond chords and the Taurus come on together, it fills so much formerly empty space.
* Genesis, "Second Home By The Sea." More pronounced in live versions.
* Rush, "Subdivisions" - Intro, doubled with open octave on Oberheim with the left hand.
* Michael Rutherford, "Moonshine" - Oh. My. God. Bass pedal death ray. A little more opened up on the filter more than you usually hear.
* John McLaughlin, "Every Tear From Every Eye" (Alphonso Johnson, fretless bass, Taurus pedals) - Out of nowhere at the end of this delicate jazz/fusion instrumental comes a descending line that rises back up and portamentos down to the song-closer note.
